Legislator Kevindaryan Lujan spoke at the Newburgh Boys and Girls Club earlier this week along with several others about leadership, as part of the Mayor Torrance Harvey Summer Youth Employment Initiative. Lujan said ” I emphasized about the importance of learning from our losses and mistakes, the importance of resiliency and determination. I also talked about the need for all us to be the change we wish to see in our communities. Whether you love art, the environment or strive to see a more just and equitable world, we all have it in us to be a part of the change.” Lujan added that if anyone is willing to donate food for the kids, the Boys and Girls Club is definitely looking for partnerships.
Program Manager, Ashley Collazo said “The Boys and Girls Club of Newburgh is happy to participate with Mayor Torrence Harvey and to be able to positively affect the young in Newburgh to not only earn money over the summer, but also to gain skills and discover career paths, and also to invest meaningfully in the community.”
