Named Small Business of the Month

Assemblyman Colin Schmitt  honored the Washingtonville Soccer Shop this week for their 30 years in business, presenting the store with an official New York State Assembly Proclamation and recognizing them as April’s Small Business of the Month for the 99th Assembly District. The Washingtonville Soccer Shop opened its doors in 1991 and has been a crucial institution in the Washingtonville and Blooming Grove communities ever since. They have provided services to athletes and families from across the Hudson Valley for three decades. Assemblyman Schmitt stated, “It is my privilege to award an official NYS Assembly Proclamation to the Washingtonville Soccer Shop to mark 30 years of business on Main Street. This is a local family-run company that has provided services to our region for more than three decades. I want to congratulate Mr. Martelli and his family for all they have done for the community for so many years and wish them much continued success.”

Tony Martelli and Family, owners of the shop said,  “We are so grateful to be a main street business right here in Washingtonville for 30 years and thank Assemblyman Colin Schmitt for presenting us this recognition from the State Assembly. Our goal has always been to serve local residents and support soccer in our region. We look forward to continuing to do so and want to thank all of our loyal customers and friends.”

Washingtonville Mayor Joe Bucco stated, “The Washingtonville Soccer Shop has provided assistance and a resource for our youth for decades. We are thankful to them and what they do for our community. The Village of Washingtonville is happy to join with Assemblyman Schmitt in awarding this official proclamation and thank him for his support of Washingtonville’s small businesses.”

Blooming Grove Supervisor Robert Jeroloman stated, “The Town of Blooming Grove and our residents have benefited from the Washingtonville Soccer Shop for many years. We applaud them for many years of success and aid to our community as a whole. We are honored to join with Assemblyman Schmitt to recognize this valuable business.”

County Legislator and Blooming Grove Chamber President Kathy Stegenga stated, “I am proud to stand with Assemblyman Schmitt in honoring a remarkable business that is vital to our community. The Washingtonville Soccer Shop has provided for our youth for years and we celebrate with them today having been in business for over 30 years.”
